FAQ

What Should I Expect From Therapy? This Is My First Time.

Your first few sessions will consist of an informal but comprehensive intake/assessment and will take about 55 minutes. Your therapist will gather information to better understand your current situation and symptoms and set goals. Throughout your treatment your therapist will provide psychoeducation, help you process current and past events, explore patterns in your life, and build tangible skills and tools to keep you accountable to your goals.

Most sessions will take place once per week, unless you require additional or reduced sessions.

Do you take my insurance?

All of the therapists in the practice are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans ONLY. We are not in-network with any HMO plans.

How Do I Use My Insurance?

You are strongly encouraged to contact your insurance carrier before your session to understand any co-payments, co-insurance, or costs for which you may be responsible. Services may be covered in full or part by your plan. You may check your coverage by calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and asking the following questions:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What are my co-pay and co-insurance amounts (if any)?
  • You can provide CPT codes 90837 and 90791.
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • Are there any limitations to the number of sessions I can have each year?
  • Is telehealth covered any differently from in-person sessions?

Any payments that you are responsible for are due at the time of services and may be made via cash, check, or credit card. If payment is not received by the 30th of the month, it will automatically be charged to the credit card on file. Birchwood Clinic requires a valid credit card to be kept on file.

After your first session, your claim is immediately sent to your insurance company for processing. You will be notified once your insurance company processes the claim to verify any costs you are responsible for.

You don’t take my insurance, can I still see a therapist at the practice?

Absolutely. If you have insurance with another company, we can provide a statement for you to submit for possible reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. You will need to pay for your session at the time of the appointment and then we will email you a “superbill” or receipt for insurance reimbursement to submit to your insurance company. Please call your insurance company to understand your out-of-network benefits.

For out-of-network or self-pay clients, our fees are:

Initial Assessment/Intake  $230

Psychotherapy Session    $195

How Do Virtual Sessions work?

All virtual sessions are done through HIPPA compliant telehealth platform. You will be sent a link at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Can I do a hybrid of in-person and virtual appointments?

Yes, just as long as your therapist has availability for in-person appointments. You may choose to alternate virtual and in-person sessions based on your availability and schedule.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

If you cancel your session with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full session fee of $195. Please be aware that this fee will not be covered by your insurance carrier.
