Alyson is a Licensed Professional Counselor who provides therapy to adults in-person and virtually. Alyson has experience helping those with depression, anxiety, self esteem, interpersonal issues, LGBTQ+ issues, and other life transitions. She utilizes both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques, as well as distress tolerance, emotional regulation strategies, and mindfulness practices. Alyson approaches therapy through conversation, collaboration, and open-mindedness to help clients reach their goals.
It can be hard for people to get through life’s challenges on their own and they may find themselves needing extra help. Alyson is here to provide that support in times of need. Alyson believes each session should be individualized to meet a client’s specific needs. The therapeutic relationship and environment are crucial for setting a solid foundation for the therapeutic process and Alyson uses these foundations to work collaboratively toward each client’s goals. She understands that her life experiences may not be the same as her clients, so she works to approach therapy from each client’s perspective. While working in a safe and collaborative environment, Alyson is here to help clients develop tools and strategies to live a more happy and balanced life.
Alyson received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Roosevelt University and is a National Certified Counselor. She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Missouri State University.
